sneak attack bedroom makeover

So, a few weeks ago, I walked into our bedroom, and decided to change everything… well almost everything.

I’d been trying to work with the big bold design on the IKEA curtains we got last year. I even added some geometric art in a matching color scheme but it was just too much. I felt like the whole room was over powered. So, I changed it up.

I was hoping to go for a more casual feel. Kind of thrown together, but still wonderfully cohesive. sneak-attack-makeover-4I nixed the geometric art in favor of three small frames over our DIY upholstered headboard. We also swapped out our old thrift store nightstands for these IKEA nightstands in blue. They are from the same series as our dresser but the blue adds a nice pop of fun color to our mostly neutral room.

Also, if you’re wondering why the bed looks a little flatter, it’s because we removed the actual duvet. Since summer is here, we’re hoping this move will save us some money in the AC department by not turning the temperature down as much during the night.

Those are actually Christmas trees (in a kind of abstract form) from a place in North Texas. I thought the bedroom was a perfect place to put that because seeing it everyday makes me smile.

And that is the current state of our bedroom. Totally switched up. I’d still like to switch out some of the photo frames with some DIY art that fits a little better and maybe add a few more style elements, but for the most part, this room is done!
