Happy February!! I’m kicking off this month-o-love with the next project in our Noob Sewing Series! At least once a month, I’m breaking out my good ol’ IKEA SY sewing machine to teach myself how to sew.
Last month, I made the simplest DIY envelope pillow case, but for the second installment, I thought I’d start embracing the Valentine’s Day spirit with these adorable (and crazy easy) ruffled crepe paper garlands.
My sweet friend Savannah brought this awesome project to my attention to the original tutorial from Katie.Cupcake. Her instructions are clear, the process is easy, and she even shares four different (and equally cute) variations!
I just grabbed crepe paper streamers in two different shades of pink, cut double the length of my desired garland and ran them through my sewing machine. The trick to get the ruffles is to use your longest stitch and the tightest tension. Then just sew, sew, sew.
The result is perfect, girly, ruffled loveliness and it takes minutes to complete. I actually made these to take to work! My office usually decorates for the holidays and these are a cheap, simple decoration that’s easy to hang and take down.
